Well Woman Exam
A well woman exam is aimed at targeting areas of health that are specific to women. It is a specialized type of physical for women. A typical well woman’s exam includes a breast exam and a pelvic exam.
A pelvic is a comprehensive exam of the vulva, vagina and cervix. A visual exam is performed along with what is known as a Pap smear or a “Pap test”. These tests are used to determine general health and are used to detect any sexually transmitted diseases or cervical cancer. A Pap smear is a test of sample cells taken from a woman’s cervix. You might feel discomfort during this test but should feel no pain.
